Student Evaluation Comments

"I appreciate Alison's heart; She is an advocate for the student's voice and a truly encouraging and inspirational professor. She is always willing to listen to the student's perspectives and respects our opinions, feelings, etc. What a beautiful addition to your faculty. She truly cares about her students."

(Learning in Digital Contexts, Spring 2023)

"I want to thank Alison for being an understanding and caring professor. Considering our workload, she truly cared for us and made sure that the expectations were clear and manageable. She always treated everyone with respect and kindness. I can say that Alison's class was the saving grace this semester."

(Equity and Diversity, Spring 2023)

"This was my favourite course this semester. Everything that was required for marks was clearly scheduled in the syllabus at the very beginning of the semester. Class material was available well ahead of time. Ideas in class were connected to how we can address these issues as future teachers."

(Equity and Diversity, Spring 2023)

"I don't have enough kind things to say about Alison. She made this class welcoming and useful, always relating theory to practice, giving her own personal insights, and making it engaging/hands-on as much as possible."

(Equity and Diversity, Spring 2023)

"Alison is awesome!! It was being wrapped in a nice warm blanket every Thursday morning. I have nothing at all to say other than that."

(Equity and Diversity, Spring 2023)

"I was extremely anxious about taking this course as I have no previous design experience or knowledge. However, as we near the end of the semester, I can honestly say this was one of my favourite courses in the whole program. I cannot say enough good things about Alison, the course content, and the tutorials. Not only did I learn an immense amount of knowledge and practical skills, but I also gained so much confidence in myself as a student, and as a designer. Alison is the kindest, most approachable, most knowledgeable, and fair professor I have had to date. She made this course and this semester an enjoyable, engaging, and positive experience!"

(Design Thinking and Visual Design, Fall 2022)

"Alison is an amazing instructor, and it was a pleasure to take this course with her. I felt like she prepared me well to tackle EDI issues in class and in life. I think her assignments, especially the EDI statement is a great tool to have for my future interviews. I only have positive things to say about her as an instructor and her course design. Can't wait to take Foundations 3 with her!"

(Equity and Diversity, Spring 2023)

"Alison made this course a pleasure to take! She is an amazing teacher and made the virtual learning environment enjoyable! Thank you! Other teachers should be taught by her on how to offer an engaging virtual course!"

(Learning in Digital Contexts, Spring 2023)

"Alison is a very knowledgeable individual, her demeanour and attitude towards teaching AND the subject matter were an incredible asset to have in a professor as I could follow along, understand and engage with the class, content and her as an individual. I would greatly enjoy another class with her as my professor. Feedback was taken throughout and applied in a tangible and realistic way that I felt heard and considered throughout the course. Thank you Alison!"

"By far, Dr. Alison Mann is my favourite instructor. Her material is relevant, her enthusiasm and passion for the course and its material is infectious and I really enjoyed this course and every course I take with her."

(Creating Digital Tools, Winter, 2023)

"The Instructor was one of the best I have had at UOIT and I have taken 11 courses. She is extremely conscientious of students' time, workload, and expectations and the assignments are useful and purposeful. I will refer back to this course and the products I produced especially the scrapbook."

(Creating Digital Tools, Winter, 2023)

"Honestly, the calm, organized and engaged nature of the learning and course itself has been a refreshing and helpful addition to my learning. I especially appreciated the roundtable readings concept was a really interesting feature, and I loved it. It got me more involved in the readings and the discussions with peers have always been where I have learned the most and that was the perfect facilitation of that. Thank you Alison!"

(Creating Digital Tools, Winter, 2023)

"Alison Mann is a very pleasant, welcoming, and kind educator. I always enjoyed going to her class because she was always on time, prepared, and well-organized. The assignments were enjoyable and reflected the learning materials. Grades and feedback were always given back within a week."

(Creating Digital Tools, Winter, 2023)

"Professor Allison Mann is a wonderful professor. I felt that the workload was manageable, the assignments were well spaced out, her modules were well organized, and she is very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be taking one of her courses in the future."

(Foundations II, Winter, 2023)

"I appreciate all the effort Alison put into all Canvas modules and video lectures. Everything was always extremely organized and well-explained. I think that all the questions she had us answer in the lecture videos were valuable and helpful to think about in terms of teaching. Whenever we had questions for her, she was always VERY quick to respond. I believe she made smart decisions in terms of what content she would elaborate on in her videos versus what our small Foundations instructors would detail. Overall, I am very glad to have had Alison as an instructor for creating content to which all Foundations students and classes were exposed!"
